▍Introduction
In order to protect public health and safety, Korean government issued KC certification scheme for electric and electronic products in 2009. Electric and electronic products should apply for KC certification mark before they get into Korea market. Products under KC scheme are categorized into type 1, type 2 and type 3. Lithium-ion batteries belong to type 2 products, while lithium-ion cells are type 1.
▍Testing standard and scope
● Standard: KC 62133-2: 2020 (referring to IEC 62133-2: 2017)
● Scope:
1.Rechargeable lithium batteries used in portable (movable) devices;
2. Lithium batteries used in scooters which are under 25km/h of speed.
3. Lithium cells used in cellphones, tablets or laptops, with charging voltage higher than 4.4V and energy density higher than 700Wh/L.
● Testing standard: KC 62619:2019 (referring to IEC 62619: 2017)
● Scope: Lithium-ion cells or battery management system with volume lower than 300kWh.
