The new standard for portable secondary lithium batteries issued by the Ministry of Industry of Thailand on April 22, 2024 TIS 62133 Part 2-2565 - Safety standard for portable sealed secondary lithium cells and batteries containing alkaline or other non-acidic electrolytes, although the mandatory time has not been announced. But it is expected to be implemented by the end of 2024 or February 2025.
- There will be a 180-day transition period after the new standard is mandatory. During the transition period, qualified laboratories in Thailand can begin to perform tests and issue reports, but TISI cannot issue certificates; TISI can be issued after 180 days. After the transition period, the old standard certificate will be directly invalid.
- The number of samples required by TIS 62133-2 new standard is different from that required by TIS 2217-2548 standard. Under the new standard, 43 lithium cell samples and 22 lithium battery samples are expected to be provided, and the actual number of samples will be subject to the official mandatory documents.
