Standard Guide | Transportation Evaluation of sodium-ion batteries
The new Dangerous Goods Air Transport Regulation DGR 66th will come into force on January 1, 2025, and the maritime transport regulation IMDG Code 42-24 will come into use on January 1, 2025, and become mandatory on January 1, 2026. These two new rules classify sodium-ion batteries as Class 9 dangerous goods, that is, sodium-ion batteries need to be tested and comply with the requirements of UN38.3 before being transported, and to be transported in accordance with these two rules respectively.
