From June 15 to July 14, 2026, the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) released multiple draft regulatory guidelines for public consultation. The drafts cover core new energy product categories including consumer batteries, energy storage batteries, power batteries, inverters and charging piles, specifying key certification details such as testing requirements, sample quantities and factory audit criteria. Selected products will be officially brought under mandatory TIS standard control starting September 2026. Products without valid TISI certification will not be legally imported, cleared through customs or sold in Thailand thereafter.

Shift from Voluntary Certification to Mandatory Market Access

Previously, TISI certification for Thailand’s PV and energy storage supporting products was voluntary, enabling export enterprises to enjoy streamlined customs clearance procedures, short lead times and controllable costs. After the new regulation takes effect in September 2026, all PV and energy storage equipment sold in Thailand (both locally manufactured and overseas imported) must pass designated testing and factory audits and obtain TISI certification to undergo legal customs clearance and commercial sales.
