Thailand TISI Mandatory Regulations for Energy Storage Products Now in Force: MCM Supports Your Efficient Market Entry
With the rapid expansion of Thailand’s new energy sector, the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) has issued multiple mandatory certification guidelines starting from 2026, covering key product categories such as energy storage batteries, inverters, and photovoltaic modules. Several product announcements were officially released in September 2026, confirming their inclusion under mandatory TIS standards. Products without a valid TISI certificate can no longer be legally imported, cleared through customs, or sold in Thailand.

l Key Regulatory Change: Immediate Shift from Voluntary to Mandatory Certification
Previously, PV and energy-storage-related products in Thailand only required voluntary TISI certification, allowing exporters to benefit from simple procedures, short lead times, and manageable costs. With the new regulations effective from September 2026, there is no transition period. All PV and energy storage equipment sold in Thailand must undergo designated testing and factory inspection, and obtain mandatory TISI certification before they can be legally cleared and marketed.

l TISI Certification Requirements for Energy Storage Products:
Certificate Holder: A Thailand-based importer (factory information will also be shown on the certificate).
Test Report Requirements: IEC test reports issued within the past three years are currently accepted. Reports must be issued by laboratories accredited to ISO/IEC 17025.
Factory Audit Requirements: Assessment of production capability, quality management system, product consistency, and relevant production records.
