Photovoltaic energy storage lithium cell batteries will be included in the BIS mandatory scope
On 27 January 2025, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) issued the Solar Systems, Devices and Components Goods Order (2025). The new decree requires all listed photovoltaic products to comply with the latest standards of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Among them, the new standard IS 16270:2023 replaced the standard in 2017, and the lithium battery storage cell and battery were included in the mandatory registration scope of CRS. The new rules will become mandatory 180 days after their release.
According to Article 6 of the Decree, after the decree is enforced, the certificate of a product that has obtained BIS certification according to the old standard is still valid; The certificate shall be renewed according to the requirements of the new regulations after expiration.
