Regulatory Updates: The Latest Regulations on New Energy Imports in India
The Indian government has recently updated the import management regulations for photovoltaic and wind energy components, requiring relevant importers to complete registration through the "Renewable Energy Equipment Import Monitoring System (REEIMS)" website before the goods enter the country and clearly declare the final use of the imported products and components. Each registration is valid for three months.
This regulation will come into effect on November 1, 2025, and apply to all relevant goods entering India by air, land or sea transportation. Importers must submit their registration applications in advance. The specific time is:
- Air cargo: At least 2 days in advance
- Sea and land transportation of goods: At least 5 days in advance
The following products require special attention to complete registration:
- Photovoltaic products: HS codes are 70071900, 85414200, and 85414300
- Wind power generation products: The HS codes include 73082019, 84833000, 84834000, 85016420, 85016430, 85023100, and 85030090
Relevant enterprises are requested to make adequate preparations in advance to ensure compliant imports and avoid delays in customs clearance.
